Tim Bennett

President, Cyber Security Industry Industry Alliance

Tim Bennett

Tim Bennett became President of the Cyber Security Industry Alliance (CSIA) In April 2007 after serving three years as Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Executive Vice President of the American Electronics Association (AeA). In that role, Bennett directed all operations for AeA's 18 U.S. offices and 2500 members. He served as a Trustee on AeA's Education Foundation Board and AeA's Insurance Trust Board and also managed the Council Chairs Committee of the national board of directors. Prior to the COO & EVP position, Bennett served as Senior Vice President International at the AeA for over five years, managing the organization's D.C. policy team and AeA's offices in Beijing, Brussels and Tokyo.

Immediately prior to the AeA, Bennett worked in New York City for over two years in international public relations with Hill and Knowlton and then Fleishman Hillard. Prior to that, he was a Vice President at SJS Advanced Strategies, the international trade and investment consulting arm of Steptoe & Johnson LLP, an international law firm. During his seven-year tenure, he analyzed the impact of international trade and investment issues on client operations and competitiveness, sought inclusion of specific provisions in trade agreements and trade legislation, and advocated client positions before U.S. and foreign governments. Prior to that, Bennett worked at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative as a Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for eight years, serving as the chief U.S. trade negotiator with Mexico and as one of the ?Lead? U.S. negotiators for the GATT Uruguay Round of multilateral trade negotiations. Earlier in his career, Bennett was an international economist for the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of International Labor Affairs and served on the U.S. negotiating team during the Tokyo Round of multilateral GATT negotiations.

During Bennett's career, he has spoken at over 200 conferences, seminars and industry groups, testified before the U.S. Congress, co-authored three books, and had numerous articles published.
