Excerpt:

Barbara Desoer, Chief Technology & Operations Officer, Bank of America, spoke with ITO America concerning how the financial services industry keeps pace with change and maintains a commitment to innovation.

These days the word innovation may bring to mind a wide variety of new consumer products and capabilities. Most likely what it doesn't bring to mind is a bank. Yet banks traditionally have a long history of customer-oriented innovation and are devoting even more institutional energy and resources to innovation than ever before.

Barbara Desoer advises to, 'Take action to implement those ideas as a shared responsibility.'

In closing she states, 'Five years from now, who know what new words will appear in our technology lexicon? What I do know is it's up to IT leaders to ensure that whatever the latest technological advances in the marketplace are- our businesses and our customers will be poised to take advantage of them.'
