SAP has developed a solid long term approach to maintenance. During its version upgrade SAP handles the standard objects on its own. The organization need not worry about it. But SAP implementation does not only mean SAP standard objects. In order to meet business requirements, a lot of custom enhancements and developments need to be implemented in the SAP environment. In fact, it is noted from experience that custom developments consume about 70% to 80% of the total system resources and only 20% to 30% of the system resources are consumed by the standard SAP process that are implemented in SAP environment.
