Scott Crawford, Research Director, EMA, and Wes Wasson, SVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Citrix, go head to head to discuss application delivery challenges.
Scott Crawford has more than 15 years of experience in information technologies and industry-wide insight on multiple fronts. He has pioneered implementation and research on multiple fields, from assistive technologies to sophisticated distributed-trust data security architectures to IT service management.
Wasson joined Citrix in 2005 and brings an extensive track records if success with nearly 20 years of experience in networking, security and application infrastructure markets. Prior to Citrix, Wasson held several leadership positions at Network Associates, where he helped them grow from a $200M single product company into a $1B industry leader in networking and security in just under four years.
When asked by ITO what impacts of the web on application delivery were, Crawford said 'The web really has had an enormous impact on application deliver. There are two highly important values of the web: 1. it has made it possible to deploy a ubiquitous, universal client that is highly flexible and 2. it leverages an equally flexible medium to communicate information to that client.'
Wesson found, 'Web protocols are extremely chatty, creating massive increases in the volume of application traffic.'
